About the author: Dennis P. Crawford was the Democratic nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014. A lifelong Lincoln, Nebraska, resident, he earned a political science degree from Creighton University in 1982 and a law degree from The Catholic University of America in 1985. Returning to Lincoln, he practiced law from 1986 to 2023, representing people injured in accidents.
A longtime participant in Nebraska politics, Crawford served as Second Associate Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party from 2012 to 2016. He is married to Diane, and they have three adult children and one grandson. In his free time, he enjoys following Nebraska Cornhuskers football.
About the book: The 1968 Nebraska Democratic primary drew national attention as Robert F. Kennedy and Eugene McCarthy competed in one of only fifteen presidential primaries. At a time when party leaders still controlled most convention delegates, both candidates campaigned heavily to demonstrate their appeal in farm states.
Kennedy connected strongly with Nebraska voters through a series of memorable campaign stops, while McCarthy campaigned tirelessly across the state. Kennedy won decisively, defeating McCarthy 52 percent to 31 percent, a victory that strengthened his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
