About the author

Damien Thompson is a writer, musician, and mental health professional in training originally from the Midwest. His fiction and poetry have appeared in publications including *Exquisite Corpse*, *In Our Own Words*, *The Stardust Review*, *The Hare's Paw Review*, and the *WILDSounds Writing Festival Anthology*. He has also released four full-length albums and numerous singles.

In 2025, Thompson published his memoir, *...And Then I Would Fly*, a candid account of surviving childhood abuse and navigating a complex relationship with his father. After more than a decade managing a national 911 call center, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and is currently completing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with plans to open a private psychotherapy practice.

About the book

...And Then I Would Fly is a powerful memoir of survival, resilience, and healing. Told with honesty, dark humor, and compassion, it traces Damien's journey from a traumatic childhood to fatherhood, exploring the lasting impact of family trauma and the determination to break its cycle.
